In sales, success isn’t just about pitching products anymore. That’s an outdated method. What we, at Culturev8te are aiming for, our purpose, is to help people to be happy at work by building high-performance cultures, guiding leaders to create better environments, generating self-awareness and emotional intelligence, and encouraging respectful, interdependent relationships.
So it will come to no surprise when we talk about sales, and when we train individuals to sell, we focus on self awareness first, in order to build long-lasting relationships.
Sales is actually about understanding people. Self-awareness and social awareness are hugely important factors when trying to achieve this.
We use methods to improve emotional intelligence within those that we work with. We witness as a result salespeople are better able to manage their emotions whilst empathising more with customers.
Understanding how emotions can affect interactions with customers helps salespeople remain calm, composed and attentive.
Let’s dig into this further.
What is self-awareness?
In short, self awareness is about decluttering your mind and staying very present. Practicing active listening and observing. It’s about recognising your strengths, weaknesses, and how you come across to others.
When you’re aware of your own emotions and motivations, you can work with them to build trust and authenticity with your potential clients.
What is social awareness?
Social awareness is about understanding others, on a much deeper level.
Social awareness allows you to empathise with your clients, anticipate their needs, and tailor your approach accordingly. It’s about reading non-verbal cues, listening actively, and adapting your communication style to resonate with different personalities.
By combining self-awareness and social awareness, you can create genuine connections and have some fun along the way.
These skills not only enhance your sales effectiveness but also bring you bags of professional and personal growth. You’ll notice the impact across the whole of your life.
As clearly stated by Hubspot – “Building solid relationships with prospects and customers lays the foundation for productive sales efforts. Consistently showing genuine empathy can facilitate that process. Salespeople need to listen to potential customers and consider their perspectives.” Source: https://blog.hubspot.com/sales/empathy-in-sales
